How to remove swirls caused by car wash
It’s true that the car wash’ brushes cause damages on the car body? It’s a legitimate doubt. Nobody wants to take his car to a car wash and obtain noisy swirls as a result.
Let’s begin talking about the alleged perpetrators of these imperfections: THE CAR WASH’ BRUSHES. These could be composed by two different materials:
- Nylon: in the past, this was the core material for the car wash’ brushes composition. It’s a hard material, real aggressive on the surface. For this reason, these brushes are abrasive on the car body. Over time, them use can increase the probability of swirls’ appearance (micro-scratches).
- Microfiber: the most part of the modern car washes is equipped with microfiber brushes. This material is more delicate during the working process. In this case, the swirls appearance’ probability decrease (but, unfortunately, it doesn’t disappear).
In addition to the brushes’ composition, there are others possible causes at the base of the swirl’s appearance. For instance, it’s possible that the plant hasn’t been correctly maintained. These is possible when the brushes are not replaced when necessary, or when they are not correctly maintained. These oversights can increase the probability of imperfection’s creation.
Summarizing quickly, we can say that, generally, the car wash brushes can cause swirls on the car body. We emphasize that these are micro-defects, very hard to perceive. Most of time, they slip at the car owner himself.
THE SOLUTION
After talked about the problem, let’s see how to proceed in case you’ve noticed some swirls on your car after bringing it to a car wash, and you desire to completely remove them.

In case of swirl’s presence, it will be enough to apply a refinishing polish.
POLISH CHOICE
In these cases, there are two possible ways. Your choice depends on the desired result.
If you desire to use a product that will remove the swirls, and, at the same time will leave a smooth protective film on the surface, let’s choose PAICAR04. This polish contains waxes and no-volatile silicones in its formula. These agents can brighten colour and shine of the car body.
If your goal is to only remove swirls, without adding some covering agents, the right choice will be PAICAR03. Its formulation is composed by nano-abrasive agents, that are effective in the holograms & micro defects removing. Choose PAICAR03 if you want to apply nano-ceramics protection after the polishing process.
TOOL CHOICE
For these cases, it’s better to use the roto orbital polishing machine. It’s more indicated to the refinishing phase (look here for the article regarding the polishing machine choice). Anyway, thank to the DA technology (open cells and air circulation system, how explained in this article), it’s possible to complete a refinishing job using a rotary polishing machine, combining it with the S15 backplate.
